Smile Analysis
The first step in any cosmetic procedure is to determine what a patient wants
changed. After careful consideration of a patient's requirements, we
prepare models of his or her teeth and complete a thoughtful planning process to
design a new dental appearance for the patient. After the
patient approves this plan, we begin treatment. There are many ways to
change a patient's appearance. It may be something as simple as a
whitening procedure, or as complex as a combination of tooth movement
(orthodontics) and new crowns (caps). We believe that the only way to determine
what is best for our patients is to thoroughly understand our patients.
For more than 20 years, Dr. Woodruff has been performing cosmetic procedures for
patients from all walks of life, from professional models to everyday people.
Whitening

This is an effective technique for some stains that can't be professionally
cleaned from the surface of your teeth - stains that are in, not on, you teeth.
We apply a strong yet harmless, chemical to the outside or inside surfaces of
your teeth. Sometimes more than one treatment is necessary.
Home whitening kits are also available for our patients. One appointment
will be necessary to make an impression of your teeth in order to fashion
whitening trays. You can then whiten your teeth in your own home and at
your own convenience.
Veneers

A porcelain veneer is a paper-thin, custom-made covering that conceals the front
and side surfaces of your tooth, much like a mask or an artificial fingernail.
Unlike a fingernail, however, veneers are made of a very durable ceramic
material. Veneers are versatile -- they can correct stains, breaks, and odd
shapes, and they can lengthen individual teeth. During a two-step procedure
separated by one to three weeks, your teeth are prepared, then fitted for the
veneers. A major benefit of veneers is tooth conservation; little enamel is
removed in preparation for the restoration. However, porcelain veneers aren't
ideal for people with severe bite problems or for those who grind their teeth -
a habit that can break the veneer.
